Paramount Ambulance offers excellent wages and benefits. Our staff members have years of medical and care giving expertise, and we ensure that they maintain their licenses and advance their skills through continuing education as well. Paramount Ambulance employees work on 12 hour shifts.

All of our employees go through extensive background checks and are licensed in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. Employee drug screening is mandatory. We offer in-house continuing education training as well as the opportunity every two years for Paramedics to gain their Critical Care endorsement.

EMT

PARAMEDIC

EMT

The basic function of the EMT is to provide medical care and transportation for a patient at the Emergency Medical Technician level, within their scope of practice, as stipulated by the National Registry. Full-time, part-time and PRN available.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • NREMT Licensure
  • Willing to obtain licensure in Illinois and Wisconsin (If not already completed, Paramount will assist employee in this process)
  • Have current BCLS certification
  • Current and valid Iowa Chauffeur Illinois or Wisconsin Driver’s License and good driving record
  • Consent to Criminal Background Check
  • Pass DOT Physical and Pre-Employment Drug Testing

PARAMEDIC

The basic function of the Paramedic is to provide medical care and transportation for a patient at the Paramedic level, within their scope of practice, as stipulated by the National Registry. Full-time, part-time and PRN available.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • National Registry Paramedic Licensure
  • Willing to obtain licensure in Illinois and Wisconsin (If not already completed, Paramount will assist employee in this process)
  • Have current BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
  • Have current and valid Iowa Chauffeur Illinois or Wisconsin Driver’s License and good driving record
  • Consent to Criminal Background Check
  • Pass the DOT Physical and Pre-Employment Drug Testing.

Preferred but not required:

  • Critical Care endorsement

DRIVER

The basic function of the Driver is to transport wheelchair-bound individuals to healthcare facilities, hospitals, testing laboratories, special events etc. both locally and out-of town.  If you have limited availability, this could be for you as trips are scheduled as needed, generally scheduled 24 hours in advance. Part-time and PRN available.

Drivers also may partner with an EMT or Paramedic to provide ambulance transportation. They do not provide patient care but may assist the EMT or Paramedic with patient transfers on and off the stretcher as well as in and out of the ambulance. Compassion and professionalism is required at all times.

To be considered for a Driver position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have current and valid Iowa Chauffeur, Illinois or Wisconsin driver’s license and  “clean” driving record for at least 18 months
  • Have current BCLS certification (CPR card)
  • Ability to accurately and quickly read a street map
  • Pass the DOT Physical and Pre-Employment Drug Testing.
  • Have ability to push or pull a wheelchair that may be carrying up to 250 pounds.
  • Depending on shift assignment, available to work days, weekends, evenings, and holidays and scheduled or emergency overtime.
  • Must be safety-conscious, courteous, reliable, and caring.
